Who painted this landscape?

Who painted this?

I play a game when I’m on a long drive or bus ride that involves associating the landscapes I pass with an artist. Puffy white clouds call to mind John Constable’s The Hay Wain. Parched grass and farmhouses reference Christina’s World by Andrew Wyeth. Of course, the game is limited by the landscapes you’re passing and by your knowledge of art history (while I majored in it, I’m not so into landscapes so I tend to forget them). Anyway, I took this photo while speeding along the highway in northern Illinois on Christmas Eve. It reminded me of some of Andrew Wyeth’s winter landscapes, and his preference for winter:

“I prefer winter and fall, when you feel the bone structure of the landscape–the loneliness of it, the dead feeling of winter. Something waits beneath it, the whole story doesn’t show.”
