I took the liberty of creating an image depicting the theme merge, rather than looking for it. The photo above was made using a double exposure feature of an app on my iPhone. I took a picture of a rose in my backyard, then zoomed in even more so I focused only on the center of the flower, where the petals are tightest. The blue rose is the first picture; the second picture is the pink background. On a film camera, like my Holga, I would have taken the two pictures on the same slide. Because I shot this digitally, the camera did it for me. I believe that it’s possible to create a double exposure effect with Flickr or Picasa photosharing websites as well.
The iPhone is new for me and I never thought I would have so much fun with the camera but I’m using it to play around with special effects I don’t normally use on my other camera. The app I used to make this picture is Leme Cam, which I downloaded because it was free and which I am enjoying a lot.
Weekly Photo Challenge is a WordPress-organized series. Each week, there is a different photographic theme. This week’s theme is merge. I’ll tag each post with “postaday” and “weekly photo challenge: [insert theme].”
